As you may or may not have noticed, I haven't posted in several months. This appears to be my recurring period of unsociability - the one where I may read what other people write, but I don't write anything myself and I don't respond well to attempts to contact me. ([livejournal.com profile] rodluvan - thanks for trying and especially thanks for being so nice about my lack of response! I really appreciate your caring and kind thoughts!) It's presumably related to the mildish depression for which I'm still on medication.

So, short recap:
I'm still at the same job, still like it. We've been very busy with a hardware upgrade including a new OS and a new CPU architecture meaning that we'll have to test everything very thoroughly before going into production. I've been a bit stressed out over that and this may be part of the reason why my pain is coming back.

Pain, yes. It was mostly gone during the first half of this year - to the point where I'd go on a multi-day trip and forget to bring the cane. When I was in Scotland I twisted my ankle and had to borrow one... This has changed. I'm back to using the Tramadol each day (though still at a lower dosage than before).

I've also noticed quite clearly that when I don't go horse-riding regularly, the pain gets worse - even though riding in itself causes pain, it seems to keep the messed-up parts of my abdomen limber enough that the overall pain levels decrease. I've had two periods of back troubles this autumn and during both of them I got an increase in the abdominal pain. Which is very irksome as it takes at least a month of regular exercise to get back to the previous level.

And, speaking of horses (notice how neatly I change subjects?), I've lost one of the two horses I ride. Samurai is moving away - [livejournal.com profile] jegra is moving and taking both her horses down to her new place. Samurai will probably move back to a friend of Jegra's and mine who'll hire him full-time, but she hasn't found a suitable stable yet so we don't know when that's going to happen. And I can only ride Skutt (the one in my user pic) during week days as his owner [livejournal.com profile] gnapp wants him on weekend days. So tomorrow I'm going to try out another horse, one owned by the stable owner where Skutt lives. This new horse is called Melanie, she's six or seven years old and only has one eye. She was born like that. I'm looking forward to trying her out - she's not going to be like Samurai, who is so well schooled that he taught me a lot, but on the other hand we might learn and develop together which would be nice. Also it means I can go riding together with Skutt and Gnapp on Sundays, which would be very nice.

Oh, and I've got a new obsession - the TV series "House, M.D." I only started watching it because it's got Hugh Laurie in the lead part, but I ended up completely fascinated - to the point where I've been writing fanfic about it.

There's more, but I'm too lazy to write more. Also the washing machine should be finished soon and then I can put in some bolts of material which I need to wash before I try to sew something from them.
