Just a recap since the last whiny post...

Yes, the Sunday ride was lovely, thanks all who asked. We had perfect weather, about 18C and not too windy. I got out to the stable at about 6.30 pm, and Jennifer arrived soon afterwards. She and Samuraj loitered around outside while I fetched and prepared Skutt. When we were finally ready to go out, the sun was low on the horison. We went on a country lane for a while, then we rode along a field trying to find the way to the bridlepath. After turning back we found it, and took it back to the stable.

Jennifer gave me some advice on working with Skutt. One of our problems is that he is a bit lazy, and tends to not do things until he's been told at least twice, preferably three times. We worked on changing pace from walk to trot, and then back again, and after a while he got very responsive. That also meant that he didn't stumble as much - he realised that he had to be aware and responsive, and started lifting his legs a bit more instead of dragging them as he did before. We also took a short canter - well, I meant it to be short, but by then he was enjoying himself and didn't really want to slow down, so we went on a bit longer than I'd planned. Next on list of things to do: make sure he listens not only when I tell him to go, but also when I tell him to stop!

I got home late and was very tired, and was in rather a lot of pain the next day - but yes, it was worth it... I've spent quite a lot of time at work this week; we've got new laptops and playing with it has been reasonably fun. It's large and heavy, since it's got a 15" screen. I don't particularly like lugging it around, but so far I think it's worth it.

Naturally I've not got all the programs I need to work yet, but that's not my problem. I'll just do some livejournal posting while I wait, thank you very much.

Today Calle's leaving for Edinburgh. We're both a bit nervous - he's more nervous than me, obviously, but for me it does feel a bit new to be on this side of a poly relationship. As late as a month ago, he was convinced he was thoroughly and unchangeably monogamous, and I was the one who'd been as thoroughly poly for years. I'm not really afraid we'll have any problems, but it is a new thing in our relationship and it'll take some getting used to.

Soon we're going down to the local Chinese restaurant for dinner, and then he'll get on the train to the bus to the airport. I'll be grocery shopping, and latter it's my first lesson at the riding school for the year. (The term actually started last week, but I couldn't manage it then.) Tomorrow is a company conference day spent at some conference centre away from the office. I think I might be getting a migraine tonight...
